OWNER TESTIMONIALS
We have two young boys and we wanted to give them the lifelong memories of owning a cabin in the woods. McCall was the perfect choice for us. We never tire of the beautiful ride there and, once we arrive, the natural beauty and abundance of things to do both in the summer and the winter always dazzle us. Like most people, our daily lives are hectic and stressful. The last thing we wanted were the headaches that went along with owning a cabin in the woods. We didn’t want to go away for the weekend and fix appliances, or paint front porches, or shovel snow, or cut the lawn. We can do all that in Boise. We wanted a turnkey cabin that’s ready for us when we arrive and that’s trouble-free when we leave. We want to spend our free time enjoying our family on the ski slopes, on a hiking trail, at the lake or just by the fireplace, not managing another household. We also wanted to get the best possible accommodations within our budget. For what we could have paid for a small, unimproved lot far off the beaten track, we purchased a large, luxurious home in the heart of McCall. When friends or family visit, they’re astonished by how fantastic the accommodations are - indoor and outdoor fireplaces, hot tub, flat screen TVs, granite counters, Wolfe and Sub-Zero appliances, high-end décor. It’s an amazing place. It’s affordable and it’s well located. Best of all, it’s hassle-free. We show up in the dead of winter and the driveways clear. We pull into the garage, walk in a warm house and start enjoying ourselves. It couldn’t possibly be easier. Fractional ownership is the only way we would ever consider purchasing a vacation home. We have fee-simple ownership in an appreciating asset, just like we do on our home in Boise and we can sell at any time. We’re also guaranteed 30 days of use per year, and can use it more than that when there’s vacancy. That’s a lot of vacation time. We know several people who own cabins of their own. After the first year or two, they go away less and less frequently. They’re tired of the home repairs and chores and then they feel guilty because the cabin’s sitting empty and they’re not using it enough. Quite often, one of them dutifully goes to the cabin alone just to check on it and make sure it’s okay. In short order, the cabins go back on the market. Who needs to own a vacation home outright? We own our primary home. That’s enough. We don’t expect to use our vacation home more than one month per year; why pay for the other 11 months? Not only is the initial price reasonable, we don’t get any surprise expenses afterward. Monthly dues cover risks, so we don’t end up mortgaging one house to repair surprises at the other one. We considered other alternatives, but we chose Timbercrest and the experience has been more than we hoped for when we started our search. We love it, but most importantly, our kids love it and they’re going to create memories we’ll all remember for decades to come. |
